September 2024 - The WPTA Board appointed Juan Smith as Interim Treasurer and Brenda Costello as WPTA's General Insurance Committee Representative
August 2024 - WPTA collaborated with Human Resources to clarify interpretation of longevity bonus language in our contract to reflect total years of service, whether continuous or not, resulting in increased longevity payments to several ProTechs - WPTA designated as a 501(c)5 tax-exempt organization by the Internal Revenue Service June/July 2024 - WPTA members elected Wylie Evanson (ProTech Rep), Caitlin Davis (Secretary) and Joe Medulla (Vice-President) to the WPTA board for 2024-25
May 2024 - WPTA held elections for Vice President, Secretary, and ProTech Representative, all for two-year terms, July 2024-June 2026. The WPTA board will also appoint a new Insurance Committee Representative this year. Learn more about these positions on our Board webpage.
April 2024 - Salary increases and Senate Bill 231 salary matching funds in the recently negotiated 2023-2027 WPTA Contract went into effect in this month's payroll, retroactive to July 1, 2023. Learn more about SB231 salary matching funds here: Payroll / SB231 Salary Match Information (washoeschools.net) - Scholarship applications for this year were due on April 9th. Scholarships were awarded to one WPTA member and five WPTA family members in the amount of $1000 each for the 2024-25 school year.
March 2024 - WPTA held its first social event at Great Basin Brewing Co. in Sparks.
February 2024 - WPTA held its first general meeting, presenting the tentative agreement between WCSD and WPTA, and answering members' questions about the potential new contract. - The WCSD Board of Trustees voted to approve the 2023-2027 WPTA Contract.
January 2024 - WPTA was recognized as the exclusive bargaining representative for WCSD's Professional & Technical employees by the WCSD Board of Trustees.
