Summer 2026
WPTA has continued working with District leadership to support employees impacted by overages this year. This year's process was less complex as a result of discussions WPTA and District leadership completed last year
WPTA held elections for the 2026-27 board and elected Brad Rose as Vice President, Wylie Evanson as Representative and Jennifer Caldwell as Secretary
WPTA solicited member feedback and approved the addition of a second Pro-tech Representative to the executive board
WPTA consulted with membership and, with majority support, established a Board member stipend to begin with the 2026-2027 board
WPTA remains committed to supporting members in IDP meetings and providing expert representation whenever necessary
WPTA is working with the District to align contract terms and practices for all employees moved into our unit by leadership and Board action
WPTA brought safety concerns at our 9th street location to District leadership and advocated for additional measures. The District increased School Police presence and added additional fencing as a result
WPTA awarded $1000 scholarships to 3 WPTA members and 4 WPTA family members
WPTA spoke in support of a new Admin facility at several BOT meetings, highlighting security and health concerns across our aging facilities
Spring 2025
WPTA is working with the district to support employees impacted by overages and implement Article 18 (Reduction in Force) language of the WPTA contract with fidelity
WPTA held elections for the 2025-26 board and elected Jeana Piroli as Vice President and Juan Smith as Treasurer
WPTA ended its legal case with APTA and received a nominal monetary settlement
WPTA members led a contract training at Wooster High School for interested members
WPTA notified members of a PERS contribution increase, effective 7/1/25, that will impact ProTech salaries
WPTA provided support to 5 ProTechs in IDP meetings
WPTA awarded $1000 scholarships to 7 WPTA family members
WPTA History
January 2024: WPTA was recognized as the exclusive bargaining representative for WCSD's Professional-Technical employees by the WCSD Board of Trustees.
February 2024: WPTA members and the WCSD Board of Trustees voted to approve the 2023-2027 WPTA Contract.
Spring 2024: WPTA held its first elections, awarded its first scholarships, and held its first social event.
Fall 2024: WPTA invited its attorney to train the board and other WPTA leaders on representing employees, and held a fall social event, as well as a general membership meeting.
